the search for significance
Years ago when my youth pastor left our church he said to me, "Miranda, I know you'll be fine. You know who you are and you know what you believe." And at the time, those words were so comforting to me...because they were true...for the most part. I used to be so confident. I used to know what I believed. Now I'm just not so sure anymore...
baby you're a firework
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in
Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
Cause there's a spark in you
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby you're a firework
Come on slet your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through
Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby you're a firework
Come on slet your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em goin "Oh, oh, oh!"
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

all things new
I have never been more excited/thankful/glad to welcome a new year than this one. It's not that I regret 2010, it was just the hardest year of my life. I am completely in the dark about what the Lord has for me in 2011, but it has gotta be better than last year, right?
I have been thinking a lot about my new year's resolutions. I like making them, but I'm not so good at keeping them. I never finished my 10 in 10 - oops! Hey - 7/10 isn't so bad. This year I'm keeping my list short...
1. Learn how to do the splits.
2. Run a half marathon.
3. Finish a sketchbook.
And after eating nothing but candy and junk food since Halloween, the idea of eating a little healthier doesn't sound so bad. Ideally I'd like to cut out trans fats, aspartame, and HFCS but that would mean giving up these...
Pop Tarts - trans fat :(
Cold Stone Birthday Cake Remix - HFCS :(
Diet Coke - aspartame :(
Chocolate Covered Peeps - HFCS :(
Subway Sandwiches - HFCS :(
Is that realistic? I'm not so sure.
What I am sure of is this... "I don't know what my future holds, but I know Who holds my future."
